Transumanza Trekking

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Transhumance is the seasonal and temporary migration of flocks, herds and shepherds who move from pastures located in hilly or mountainous areas to those of the plains and back, along the natural ways of sheep tracks.

Like every year, at the end of the hot season, the herds are led back to the stables. They move from the pastures at altitude of 1600 m up to 1000 meters. A nice and easy hike to closely understand the connection between nature and man. A unique opportunity to see up close the pastors at work in the woods of the Pollino National Park.
